Andy Warhol's critics' said his art did not have any meaning, and he himself said: "I am a deeply superficial person". Like Warhol - I take images of any kind and present them as works of art. Whether it is one of my photographs of a brick wall, or my oil-paintings of a nude - the purpose is the same for me: to indentify them collectively as 'art'. At the University of Plymouth where I studied for a Fine Art degree, there was no place for 'meaninglessness' or 'superficiality' in art - only 'depth'! But neither was it a place to go and learn how to paint and draw, ironically! However,
I recieved painting lessons from the renowned artist, Robert Lenkiewicz.
Design also influences some my work, and there is a 'graphic' element
to much of it. |
